Configure T1 WIC Point to Point Connections

Step 1 - Create a T1 Cross Over Cable

Step 2 - Connect the Crossover to the Routers Serial Interfaces

Step 3 - Define IP addresses

Since these are all routers, it is required to define a subnet per interface. See the below figure for a simple network layout.

Step 4 - Configure the Router's Serial Interface

R3 Config
R3#configuration Terminal
R3(config)#interface serial 0/0
R3(config-if)#service-module t1 clock source internal
R3(config-if)#service-module t1 timeslots 1-24 speed 64
R3(config-if)#service-module t1 framing esf
R3(config-if)#service-module t1linecode b8zs
R3(config-if)#ip address 10.1.128.251 255.255.255.0
R3(config-if)#encapsulation ppp
R3(config-if)#no shutdown

R2 Config
R2#configuration Terminal
R3(config)#interface serial 0/3/0
R3(config-if)#service-module t1 clock source line
R3(config-if)#service-module t1 timeslots 1-24 speed 64
R3(config-if)#service-module t1 framing esf
R3(config-if)#service-module t1linecode b8zs
R3(config-if)#ip address 10.1.128.252 255.255.255.0
R3(config-if)#encapsulation ppp
R3(config-if)#no shutdown

Step 5 - Confirm the interfaces are UP / UP

Use the show ip interfaces brief command to confirm on either router

R3#show ip interfaces brief

Also confirm with a ping command

R3#ping 10.1.128.252
